The DIVA Awards celebrate 'lesbian, bisexual, trans and queer people making a difference' across business, the media, politics and sport.
Ms Butler, who is Labour's Shadow Secretary of State for Women and Equalities, has been working to advance the rights of the LGBT community in her post.
She won the DIVA Ally Award and was presented the gong by Jeremy Corbyn, who then received another hug - but this time looked more prepared.
