NEW DELHI: A day after a
25-year-old man was found
murdered with his
throat slit near
Narela railway station, police have arrested
two youths and apprehended one
juvenile. The main accused,
Salman Khan (18), murdered Vikas Bhardwaj in pursuit of a girl from the neighbourhood.
DCP (Rohini) Rajneesh Gupta said that the accused have been charged for murder and the juvenile has been sent to a correction home.
A preliminary probe revealed that Khan was stalking a girl in the neighbourhood who was friends with Bhardwaj.
Khan had earlier tried to threaten her not to talk to Bhardwaj but didn’t get any response. The girl had also told Bhardwaj about Khan stalking her following which he had warned him to stay away from her.
The accused decided to eliminate Bhardwaj and called him to have drinks on Thursday evening. He, along with his two friends, sat with the victim and got him drunk. Later on, as he lost consciousness, Khan slit his throat with a knife and smashed his head with a stone before throwing the body near the railway tracks. He intended that it would look like death due to being hit by a train and fled with his aides.
During investigation, it was revealed that Bhardwaj, who worked in a shoe manufacturing unit in Narela, had told his boss that his mother was unwell and left early from work. However, his mother later denied being unwell, indicating that he had gone with someone known. The accused told police that they had made a similar attempt to kill the victim two days earlier as well.
