Gur rises on stockists' buying

New Delhi, Jun 11 () Firm conditions prevailed at the wholesale gur (jaggery) market today as prices of gur firmed up by around Rs 100 per quintal on emergence of stockists' buying following an uptick in demand against restricted supplies from growing regions.

New Delhi, Jun 11 () Firm conditions prevailed at the wholesale gur (jaggery) market today as prices of gur firmed up by around Rs 100 per quintal on emergence of stockists' buying following an uptick in demand against restricted supplies from growing regions.
Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets also depicted a similar trend.
Marketmen said pick-up in stockists' buying, driven by an upsurge in demand against restricted arrivals from producing belts, mainly pushed up the gur prices.

At Delhi, gur chakku and pedi rose by Rs 100 each to Rs 3,200-3,300 and Rs 3,100-3,200 per quintal, respectively. Gur dhayya and shakkar followed suit and traded higher by a similar margin to Rs 3,400-3,500 and Rs 3,500-3,600 per quintal, respectively.
In Muzzafarnagar mandi, gur raskat edged up by Rs 50 to Rs 2,200-2,250 per quintal. Gur chakku and laddoo went up by Rs 100 each to Rs 2,850-3,100 and Rs 3,000-3,150 per quintal, respectively.
In line with the overall trend, gur pedi in Muradnagar, too, finished higher by Rs 100 to Rs 2,750-3,000 per quintal.
Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):
Gur chakku Rs 3,200-3,300, pedi Rs 3,100-3,200, dhayya Rs 3,400-3,500 and shakkar Rs 3,500-3,600.
Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,200-2,250, chakku Rs 2,850-3,100, khurpa - NA and ladoo Rs 3,000- 3,150.
Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,750-3,000 and dhayya - NA. KPS SUN SBT SBT
