Ware joins Broncos as consultant

The Denver Broncos hired DeMarcus Ware as a pass-rushing consultant, according to multiple reports.

Ware had been working as a volunteer guest instructor with the Broncos and the Dallas Cowboys during OTAs, but will now devote his efforts to the Denver defense exclusively.

"Broncos are hiring former LB DeMarcus Ware as a pass-rush consultant on a part-time basis, per source. Ware will work a few days a week, a few times a month, trying to help improve Denver's pass rushers," ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted on Wednesday morning.

A report from The Athletic said that Ware was at the Broncos' practice facility to sign the deal and that it precluded him from working with other teams.

Ware is No. 8 in NFL history with 138.5 sacks. He played the final three of his 12 NFL seasons with the Broncos and served as a positive influence for teammates such as Von Miller, Shane Ray and Shaquil Barrett.

Now, the Broncos hope he can do the same with Bradley Chubb -- who they took with the fifth overall pick this spring. He shined at North Carolina State and was considered to be one of the top defensive players in the draft.
