SAP jawan guns down colleague after petty fight in Gopalganj

PATNA: A Bihar police special auxiliary police (SAP) jawan Matwar Singh (52) gunned down his colleague Nandji Yadav (51) inside a security camp of a private construction firm at village Barachap under Kateya police station area in Gopalganj district at around midnight on Thursday.
Kateya police station SHO Gautam Kumar said that Matwar gunned down Nandji using the INSAS rifle allotted to him for camp security.

He said that the murder took place over petty issue of opening door a bit late by Matwar.
“The duo along with other SAP personnel were deployed in the area for security of the firm engaged in canal construction of Gandak river,” he said.
The SHO said Nandji had gone somewhere outside and when he returned, Matwar opened the door to their temporary shelter bit late following which they entered into an argument.
“Matwar later lost his cool and opened fire from his rifle. Nandji tried to flee but Matwar chased and shot him on back. The bullet pierced through his chest resulting in immediate death,” Kumar said adding three empty cartridges were recovered from spot.

He said Matwar was arrested from the area by police within an hour. Quoting colleagues, he said both used to fight regularly on petty issues.
The SHO said Nandji was native of Hardiya under Bhore police station area in Gopalganj and his family members and villagers reached the spot and created ruckus. He said Matwar was native of Marhaura in Saran district. Kumar said Nandji’s body was handed over to family members after post mortem.
