3 panchayats in each Saran block to become ODF: DM

CHHAPRA: Saran district magistrate (DM) Subrat Kumar Sen said on Thursday that three panchayats in each block of Saran district would be declared open defecation free (ODF) by the first week of July.
The DM said this while inaugurating a toilet in the house of one Vishram Pandey at Athgawan village near Sitab Diara. The inauguration was followed by a puja with the chanting of Vedic mantras.
“The BDOs who have been recently transferred will be relieved only after they fulfill the target given to them for toilet construction,” said the DM.
Meanwhile, owner of the house Pandey termed the newly- constructed toilet as ‘izzat ghar’. “If any house lacks this ‘izzat ghar’, that particular house will have no ‘izzat’ (respect) in the village,” said Pandey.
The DM also directed the child development project officers (CDPOs) to collect forms under Kanya Uthaan Yojana from the parents of girls born on or after April 25 and submit them in the district office every day in the evening. Sources said the yojana was launched by the state government on April 22.
The Saran DM also directed all the BDOs to convert five of the angan badi kendras as model centres in each block.
