PATNA: Bihar police special auxiliary police (SAP) jawan Matwar Singh (52) gunned down his colleague Nandji Yadav (51) by his
INSAS rifle inside a security camp of a private construction firm at Barachap under the Kateya police station area in Gopalganj district on Thursday midnight.
SHO Gautam Kumar said the
murder took place over the petty issue of opening the camp door by Matwar a bit late.
“The two, with other SAP personnel, were deployed for security of the firm engaged in canal construction on Gandak river,” he said. Nandji had gone outside and when he returned, Matwar took time to open the door of their temporary shelter leading to a heated exchange of words between the two, he said.
“Matwar lost his cool and opened fire from his rifle. Nandji tried to flee, but Matwar chased and
shot him dead,” Kumar said, adding three empty cartridges were recovered from the spot. The SHO said Matwar was arrested. Quoting his colleagues, Kumar said both used to fight over petty issues.
Nandji belonged to Hardiya under the Bhore police station area in Gopalganj while Matwar is from Marhaura in
Saran district, the SHO said and added that Nandji’s body was handed over to his family members after post mortem.
