Hot conditions to prevail in Andhra Pradesh for another week

VIJAYAWADA: Prevailing hot conditions in the last two days are likely to continue for another week, affecting the normal life. The monsoon has been normal in Rayalaseema and weak in coastal Andhra Pradesh. On Friday, heavy rain occurred at isolated places in the Anantapur district of Rayalaseema, while hot conditions prevailed over coastal state.

Gorantla in Anantapur received 7 cm rainfall, while Brahmasamudram, Settur and Thottambedu in Chittoor district received 5 cm, 4 cm and 3 cm respectively.

Meanwhile, many places recorded above normal temperatures of up to 42 degrees Celsius. On Friday, highest temperature of 41.9 degrees Celsius was recorded at Ongole, followed by 41.3 at Bapatla, 41.2 at Kavali and Jangamaheswarapuram, 41.1 at Nellore and 40.2 at Tuni and Vijayawada. Kakinada recorded 39.8 degree Celsius while Tirupati recorded 39 degree Celsius.

According to IMD scientist Naga Ratna, the hot weather would continue for another week.
Weathermen say the hot conditions are common during monsoon and temperatures would stay above normal.
