SECUNDERABAD: In order to get firsthand knowledge of complaints in various slum areas in Secunderabad Cantonment, representatives of Cantonment Congress Committee have launched 'basti Nidra' (sleeping in the slum) project.
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee official spokesperson M Krishnak said, "The program aims to reach out to people at their local community halls, listen to their problems and take them up with the authorities concerned.
As part of this programme, we have dined with the local residents at the community hall and slept there."
On June 16, the organisers conducted an awareness campaign at a community hall in Bapuji Nagar in Ward No. 1 in the Cantonment area. During the interaction, several women from socially and economically backward areas, sought 2-BHK houses. Another major complaint was water bills, with residents saying the bills were being issued with arrears and it was difficult to pay a lump sum.
