Temperature sore higher than normal across State

Heat wave conditions have been prevailing across the State, except in a few Rayalaseema areas.

VISAKHAPATNAM: Heat wave conditions have been prevailing across the State, except in a few Rayalaseema areas. Temperatures recorded in many parts of the State ranged from 2 to 6.6 degrees Celsius above normal. Visakhapatnam experienced 39 degrees Celsius, 6.6 degrees Celsius above normal temperature at this time of the year, while Kalingapatnam in Srikakulam district sizzled at 39.2 degrees Celsius, 6.1 above normal temperature on Monday.

Temperatures in several coastal areas like Tuni, Kakinada, Bapatla, Nellore and Kavali touched 40 to 40.5 degrees Celsius. Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that the same temperatures and heat wave conditions will continue for a few more days.
In view of scorching temperature, the State has announced three days holidays for schools.

Ongole- 39.7oc

Machilipatnam- 38.9oc
