Over 50,000 farmers await passbooks and cheques

No sign of passbooks and cheques under Rythu Bandhu scheme have left over 50,000 farmers disappointed in erstwhile Khammam district.

KHAMMAM: No sign of passbooks and cheques under Rythu Bandhu scheme have left over 50,000 farmers disappointed in erstwhile Khammam district. Thanks to the revenue department, who have failed to prepare passbooks and cheques without mistakes. The farmers have been making rounds to the mandal revenue offices on a daily basis.

They alleged that they have been facing problem due to mistake by the revenue department. Despite several meetings and open verification, the revenue officials continue to do mistakes alleged K Rama Rao, a farmer from Sattupalli.

The state government has instructed the revenue officials to take steps to rectify mistakes and hand over the passbooks to farmers before June 20 but the officials have not taken any step till date. More than 500 passbooks and cheques have been pending in Kandukur village. Most of the farmers supposed to receive passbooks are middle and small farmers.
