PATNA: A group of five youths allegedly thrashed SHO of Mirganj police station in Gopalganj district Mukesh Kumar on Monday and attempted to snatch his service revolver when he scolded them for riding motorcycle on the wrong side of the road.
Police said the incident occurred when Kumar was clearing traffic at Mirganj town along with a police team prior to the visit of Union minister Giriraj Singh.

One of the attackers, Mohammad Arshad Hussain (25), a third year engineering student at a government college at Sonipat in Haryana, has been arrested. “Among the rest of the four youths, two have been identified as Amir Imtiaz and Nadir Imtiaz, sons Gopalganj district president of Bahujan Samaj Party Mohammad Imtiaz,” sources said. However, police have so far not confirmed the identity of the accused.
Gopalganj SP Rashid Zaman said the youths fired six rounds, prompting the SHO to fire in the air.
