2,000 to undergo skill training at Kia Motors

Kia Motors, in partnership with the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC), has selected 2,000 candidates for skill training workshop.

VIJAYAWADA/ANANTAPUR: Kia Motors, in partnership with the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC), has selected 2,000 candidates for skill training workshop. These candidates were shortlisted from over 4,000 applicants and will be trained in a phased manner. After completion of training, candidates will be shortlisted in 1:3 ratio for jobs in Kia Motors. As on Wednesday, a total of 20 candidates out of the shortlisted 600 attended training, which will take place for five days for 40 hours.

The main objective behind this basic technical skill development course is to enhance the skills of diploma holders to make them job ready in the automobile industry. Eligible candidates who successfully complete this course, will be better prepared and more eligible to apply for interview for jobs in Kia Motors India Private Limited and its suppliers in the entry level shop floor workman category in Kia Motors car manufacturing facility at Penukonda.

Collector G Veerapandian,  who inaugurated the workshop, said, “Almost 2,000 candidates were shortlisted for this training, in which around 600 candidates will be selected for the jobs in Kia Motors. Soon from July, we would start the same training sessions even for polytechnic students in Anantapur.”

Kookhyun Shim, MD of Kia Motors India, said, “We are providing qualitative training to the candidates selected for this workshop. We received over 4,000 applications from youth, but we are giving importance to the skilled candidates from Anantapur district. We will start the production of cars from September.”
