A TALENTED young singer from Otley is looking forward to performing in a Youth Music Theatre UK production this summer.

Sixteen year old Emeli Mumford is part of a 40-strong cast that will star in Help! Get Me Out Of This Musical at The South Hill Park Arts Centre, in Bracknell, from August 10 to August 12.

Emeli and her fellow performers, all aged between 11 and 21, were chosen from a national auditions tour that attracted more than 1,000 young people.

A student at Prince Henry’s Grammar School, Emeli has made it through to the finals of several singing competitions and is also a keen songwriter.

Looking ahead to her Youth Music Theatre UK (YMT) performance, she said: “I think this year’s show will be a load of fun.

“I’m really looking forward to working with director Luke Sheppard because he has done some really cool productions and he’s a fantastic role model.”

Help! Get Me Out Of This Musical is a new show created by YMT.

Writer John Nicholson said: “Working for YMT is an opportunity to work alongside some of the most ingenious and talented creatives in the business, and with a supremely talented collection of young performers.”

Since launching in 2003 YMT has trained more than 8,000 young people and helped shape the careers of several stars including Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith.
