Thousands have gathered from near and far for the international celebration music happening this weekend at the fairgrounds in Boonville.
The 25th Annual Sierra Nevada World Music Festival provides an exceptional opportunity for locals to immerse in a cultural celebration based upon the universal spirit of peace, love and music.
The three-day festival kicked off Friday with a trifecta of Jamaican Reggae Revivalists Jah9, Protege and Tarrus Riley bringing their message of resilience and hope.
With top notch soundsystems gracing two stages, and a late night dancehall with sounds so deep one can literally feel it in the bones, the sounds of SNWMF are a bane to the spirit in this oft troubled world.
Sunday’s Valley Stage lineup includes England’s Superstars Steel Pulse, Argentinian chart topper Dread Mar I, Ethiopian Icon Teddy Afro, Jamaican Rasta star Max Romeo and Australian Nattali Rize and Korean stars Kingston Rudieska.
The brightly colored flags waving in the breeze, the sweet breeze carrying the rich smells of international food, and the quick warm smiles of brightly adorned attendees all contribute to making SNWMF a feast for the senses, a family reunion of sorts, and a wonderful way to spend a gorgeous mid-summer day in Mendocino County.
Single day tickets are available at the Mendocino County Fairgrounds box office. More information about the lineup and festival may be found on www.snwmf.com.
Portions of the live show are being broadcast on KZYX; tune in and enjoy the celebration!
