Matric exam: Nalanda outperforms other districts
PATNA: With a pass percentage of 82.58, Nalanda outperformed all other districts in the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB)’s matriculation examination, the results of which were declared on Tuesday.
Of the 51,041 students who wrote the exam in Nalanda district, 10,558 students passed with a first division, 24,477 got second division and 7,113 third division.

The second and third best districts were Lakhisarai with 80.6 and Gopalganj with 79.57 pass percentage. In Lakhisarai, 4,629 candidates got first division, 10,803 passed with a second division and 3,091 with a third division. In Gopalganj, 6,965 candidates passed with a first division, while 29,369 and 11,327 students got second and third division respectively.
Patna with pass percentage of 70.64 ranked 18th among the 38 districts this year although its ranking improved from 21 last year.
Only Saurabh Kumar from Patna was among the 23 students who made it to the Top 10 in the Class X exam. The student of Prakash High School-Maner shared eighth position with two other students of Simultala Awasiya Vidyalaya- Jamui. None from Patna made it to the Top 10 last year.
State education minister Krishnanandan Prasad Verma said the result was much better than last year and the performance of students of Patna also improved. “Students who were not satisfied with their results can apply for scrutiny for which the online process will begin at the BSEB’s website on June 28,” he said and added students who failed in one or two papers could register for compartmental exam for which the forms would be available at the BSEB website from June 28.
Among all districts, the performance of Kaimur, East Champaran and Katihar was the worst. The pass percentage of Kaimur was 56.49 and that of East Champaran and Katihar 56.61 and 57.85 respectively.
