BHOPAL: In an embarrassment to the ruling BJP, party's woman MLA from Simaria assembly seat in Rewa district, Neelam Abhay Mishra broke down in the house and staged dharna alleging that the Rewa district police were trying to frame up her and her family members in false cases.
The BJP MLA supported by Congress members, stood up against her own party during Zero Hour and alleged threat to her and her family's life seeking security cover.
She also charged the cabinet minister from Rewa, Rajendra Shukla with harassment alleging that police have arrested her husband Abhay Mishra, former district panchayat president and a Congress member, on fake charges.
"Rewa superintendent of police (SP) is acting in a biased manner against me any my family at the behest of powerful local minister. Police are harassing me and my family because I raised the issue of illegal mining in the area. Police were trying to arrest my husband Abhay Mishra on bogus charges. I demand safety of my family from the home minister," said Mishra during ruckus in the house.
As the BJP MLA spell out her vows, members from both Congress and BJP got involved in verbal due against each other. Congress members said that BJP government was harassing a woman which shows the party's bogus claims on woman safety and welfare. The other side, BJP members blamed Congress for political mudslinging.
"The BJP has double standards for women. The party could not give justice to its own MLA, how can women in the state feel safe. This is a matter involving an influential politician of Vindhya area," said Congress MLA from Vijaypur (Sheopur), Ramniwas Rawat.
BJP MLA from Ujjain, Mohan Yadav said, “Today is a black day for democracy in the country and the struggle and sacrifice by the sufferers should be respected.”
Demanding assurance, Mishra said that she want safety of her family and would not even contest the coming assembly polls.

Opposition Congress members were prompt in supporting her, saying if a ruling party MLA was feeling helpless, one could imagine the plight of common people. Amid the din Speaker Sitasharan Sharma asked home minister Bhupendra Singh to reply to Mishra's allegations.
When home minister Singh announced in the House that Mishra and her family would be provided security., she refused to budge and said that she was not consoled by the statement as no instructions were issued to the police.
"Me and my family are being hounded which should stop, and the police should not implicate the family members in false cases,” she demanded.
The home minister again assured that he will talk to the SP and that no wrongful action will be taken against anybody. But the MLA remained dissatisfied and stepped into the well of the House staging dharna. She was also joined by four women members from the Congress and BSP who sat by her side in protest.
During the clamour, Opposition members shouted `shame, shame' and `this tyranny will not be tolerated. The home minister then, walked up to the weeping MLA and consoled her. He also issued instructions to the police officers to release her husband Abhay Mishra, who was taken into police custody in Dewas district.
"Abhay Mishra was involved in attacks on police during a protest and demonstration in Rewa. Police lodged a case against him for action. In between where from I came into the story is unexpected and uncalled for. I always tried to help Mishra and her family. But it seems that she was doing at the instance of some Congress leaders,” said state industries minister Rajendra Shukla.
Amid ruckus, the House was adjourned for 15 minutes and when Neelam Mishra came to know that her husband was released by the police, she withdrew her protest.
"I came to know that police have released my husband and home minister has also assured security to my family so, I am withdrawing my protest. In case if I face any problem, I will seek your help", said Mishra withdrawing her dharna.
"It was a pre-planned political move by Congress against the ruling party. The Congress leaders misguided the BJP MLA to for vested interests by they failed in their act", said BJP MLA from Chachauda (Guna) Mamta Meena.
