Couple found hanging from tree in Kasganj

AGRA: In a suspected suicide pact, a young couple committed suicide by allegedly hanging themselves from a tree in a remote village in Kasganj district.
Their bodies were found in Nauri village under the jurisdiction of Sidhpura police station on Thursday morning at around 7am.
The deceased have been identified as Amit Kumar (20) and Rita (19). Both the deceased were from Jaatav community and wanted to live together, but their families were against their relationship.
According to the police, Rita hailed from Jahannagar village of Raja Ka Rampur of Etah district and eloped with Amit on Wednesday morning.

Speaking to TOI, Raj Kumar Singh, station house officer of Sidhpura said, “The couple came to Nauri village and went to Amit’s home, where his father reprimanded him for bringing the girl to their home and asked him to leave the house with her.”
“Rejected for their relationship, the disheartened couple hanged themselves from a tree some 200 meters away from Amit’s home and on Thursday morning, villagers informed police,” he added.

This was the 16th suicide of a couple in last 14 months in Agra zone.
Earlier on May 11, a couple hanged themselves in Mahrauli village of Mathura.
On May 2, bodies of a young couple, who shot themselves, were found dead in a vacant house in Mathura.
On March 30, a couple committed suicide by jumbing in front of a speeding train in Mathura district.
On January 15, a couple hailing from Lalitpur district committed suicide in Agra by jumping in front of train. The 19-year-old girl was doing BSc, while 26-year-old boy was taxi driver. Both were neighbours and knew each other.
Similarly on January 11, a couple committed suicide by jumping in front of train at Kosi Kalan railway station. On January 9, a couple allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a train in Mathura district. The bodies of the two were recovered from the railway tracks near Farah railway station.
Last year on October 17, a teenage couple, Lokesh (19) and Babli (18) of Mathura committed suicide by hanging themselves on tree in Atush village close to Mathura-Agra border.
Further, police records reveal that on July 23, Yogesh Kumar Yadav (20) and Manisha Yadav (18), allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a train in Bachhmai area of Firozabad district.
On July 11, Vikram Yadav (22) and Ruby Yadav (21) of Sirauliya village, Firozabad jumped in front of a train. On July 6, a school-going couple, Bhanu Pratap (17) and Kumari Sunehari (16) of Snauthi village, allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a train in a remote area of Kasganj district.
On July 5, 21-year-old youth shot a school-going girl, supposedly his girlfriend, in full public view after a heated argument and later turned the gun on himself. On June 7, class X students (Bablu and Poonam) found hanging in Transport Nagar, Agra.
On May 31, Devender Kumar (23) and Krishna Kumar (20) committed suicide by hanging themselves from a tree in Gopalpur village of dehat kotwali police jurisdiction area. On May 28, student of Class X (Tanu Jat) and XII (Gautam Singh Baghel) hanged themselves from a tree in Biharipur village of Etmadpur, Agra.
Similarly, on May 15, Bhanu Singh (20) and Pushpa (19) from Breheru village, jumped in front of a train in Saiyan police jurisdiction, Agra, after parents opposed their relationship.
