VIJAYAWADA: Agiripalli Police on Saturday arrested three persons in connection with the rape and blackmailing of a B.Tech graduate following her father’s complaint on Friday. They will soon be produced in court. Though the incident took place in 2017, it came to light only after the girl sought the help of the police as one of the accused and her former classmate, Praveen, began demanding sexual favours from her by threatening to leak a video of the rape on the Internet.
The other accused — Krishna Vamsi, Siva Reddy — were students of NRI Engineering College at Pothavarapadu of Agiripalli Mandal when they gang-raped the girl, who was their junior. The college management “settled” the matter after the accused deleted the clip in the presence of the victim. “Krishna Vamsi had kept a copy of the video with him. A few days back, he shared the clip with third accused Praveen, who blurred the faces of the accused in the video and shared it with his friends on WhatsApp and also uploaded it online,” said Nuzvid sub-division DSP K Prasad.
