IMD warns of heavy rain, thunderstorms in Coastal AP

VIJAYAWADA: Officials of IMD warned of heavy rainfall and thuderstorms at isolated places in all districts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Thunderstorms accompanied with gusty winds at isolated places in all districts of Rayalaseema in the next 24 hours are likely.

Very heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places in East Godavari district and heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places in East Godavari district of Coastal Andhra Pradesh and in Chittoor district of Rayalaseema in the last 24 hours.

Highest rainfall of 17 cm was received at Amalapuram in East Godavari district, 7 cm at Kakinada in East Godavari district and Piduguralla in Guntur district, 6 cm at Veligandla, Mundlamuru and Marripudi in Prakasam district, 5 cm rain at Bhimadole in West Godavari, Nuzvid in Krishna and Vararamachandrapur in East Godavari district. Southwest monsoon has been active over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and normal over Rayalaseema.

A warning has been issued to the fishermen of Andhra coast, as strong surface winds of forty to fifty kmph from the south west are likely.
