Sambalpur Railway division sets subway record

BHUBANESWAR: Sambalpur division of East Coast Railway has set a milestone in the history of Indian Railways by setting up six limited height subways at one go.

The limited height subways were fixed in place of all unmanned level crossings in the railway division. The task was completed in a single block of four-and-half-hours on Thursday. All seven unmanned level crossings are now completely closed in Bhawanipatna-Lanjigarh Road section of Kalahandi district.

An ECoR official said launching of six limited height subways in Sambalpur division is a first of its kind not only in East Coast Railway, but also the entire Indian Railways. “While putting one limited height subway in place within four hours is considered an achievement, completion of six structures within same time frame is a rare feat,” he said.

General Manager of ECoR Umesh Singh praised the team for completing the task despite unfavourable weather.
