    Unnao case: CBI charge sheets five for murder of rape victim's father

    Among the five charge sheeted, brother of BJP MLA, Jai Deep alias Atul Singh Sengar has also been named by the agency.

    The Central Bureau of Investigation today charge sheeted five persons in the case of death of the father of a minor victim in the Unnao rape case. The victim’s father had died in police custody. The agency is probing role of BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar in the said murder case.

    Among the five charge sheeted, brother of BJP MLA, Jai Deep alias Atul Singh Sengar has also been named by the agency. The agency said that “further investigation in this case to look into the roles of others including an MLA, officials is continuing”.

    BJP MLA Sengar is the main accused in the rape of a minor girl. Sengar has stoutly denied the charges against him claiming innocence.

    The agency has charge sheeted five persons namely Vineet

    Mishra alias Vinay Mishra; Birendra Singh alias Bauwa Singh; Ram Sharan Singh alias Sonu Singh; Jai Deep Singh aka Atul Singh Sengar and Shashi Pratap Singh alias Suman Singh, all residents of Sarai Thok Makhi, District Unnao.

    The five have been charge sheeted on charges of murder, criminal intimidation, intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace; rioting, acts done in furtherance of common intention under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

    CBI had registered the case on April 12 after taking up the case from Uttar Pradesh Police on the notifications issued by UP government and Central government.

    The case was initially registered on April 4 at Police Station Makhi, District Unnao on a complaint of widow of the deceased who had alleged that her husband Surendra Singh came from Delhi to attend the court regarding the petition filed by her seeking to register a case of rape of her minor daughter against the accused.

    It was alleged that at about 6 pm, the accused abused and brutally beaten after rounding up her husband in front of her house and also thrashed the complainant, her mother in law and daughters, when they intervened in the matter. During the incident, her husband fatal injuries.

    All the five accused charge sheeted are currently in judicial custody.
