4 contract killers hired for Nawada RJD leader murder

NAWADA: The murder of district RJD leader Kailash Paswan was executed by four ‘supari’ (contract) killers, said Nawada SP S Hari Prasad here on Wednesday.
Narrating the details to newsmen, the SP said, “The RJD leader whose beheaded body was found near Paimar riverbridge under Khudaganj police station of Nalanda district on Sunday and the severed head was recovered on Tuesday from Gotrayan village under Nardiganj PS of Nawada district, was murdered by one Chhotu Gupta, who was given a ‘supari’ by Dr Suman Saurabh, secretary of an NGO—‘Bihar Seva Sansthan’, located at Seva Nagar in Budhaul village under Town police station area.
This was confessed by Chhotu, who was who was arrested from Bokaro in Jharkhand on Tuesday by a special task force.”
The accused was offered Rs one lakh besides one katha of land by the NGO official and he along with his abettors Vivek Kumar, Gautam Kumar, both natives of Gotrayan village under Nardiganj PS and Anuj Kumar of Gopalpur village under Kadirganj PS kidnapped Paswan and left for Rajgir in a Bolero.
On the way, they strangulated him with a scarf. Later, when they reached near Paimar bridge at Chhabilapur, they severed his head and threw the headless body. On their way back, they buried the severed head on the banks of Panchane river adjacent to Buchi village under Nardiganj PS. While Chhotu fled to Bokaro, the remaining three returned to their respective villages, said the SP.
The RJD leader had gone missing since July 5. The decapitated head was recovered following the lead provided by the main accused Chhotu which was identified by Paswan’s son Sanjay Kumar, who later lodged an FIR in the case.
Following raids, two country-made pistols and 10 live cartridges were recovered from the house of one Shravan Kumar of Mirzapur locality under Town PS area. Besides Shravan Kumar, one Umesh Singh of Sirdalla were also arrested on charges of abetting the crime. Raids are on to nab Dr Suman Saurabh, said the SP.
A DNA test will be done of both the severed torso as well as the head to authenticate the identity of the victim, said police.It may be mentioned here that the deceased was a close associate of Nawada RJD MLA Rajballabh Yadav and his wife Khushbu Devi is a panchayat samiti representative of Buchi village.
