Shashi resigns as Magadh Mahila College principal
PATNA: Magadh Mahila College principal Shashi Sharma resigned from the post on Wednesday in protest against the reported cancellation of her promotion as university professor in Patna University (PU) in political science department.
“I resign from my post today as my promotion to the post of university professor has been cancelled by the vice-chancellor in an arbitrary manner due to personal prejudice,” wrote Sharma, who had earlier served as the head of PU political science department.

When contacted, she told this newspaper that it was not possible for her to work in such a humiliating condition and thought it better to resigning from the post.
PU vice-chancellor Rash Bihari Prasad said Sharma’s resignation was accepted and the most senior teacher of the college would be appointed the next principal of the college. According to PU sources, Bina Rani of chemistry department is the most senior teacher in the college and, in all likelihood, she would take over as the college principal.
It is learnt that Sharma was recently demoted from the post of professor to that of a reader (associate professor) by PU as her earlier promotion was not found proper by the experts in the re-screening of all old promotions in the light of the Patna high court order.
PU has notified all cases of revised promotions of university teachers on different posts recently following their re-screening by the selection committees, sources added.
