Bihar: Women sexually assaulted at short stay home in Saran
PATNA: While the matter of sexual and physical assault of minor girls as government children home (balika grih) at Muzaffarpur had not even cooled down, fresh incident of sexual assault of women at a government short stay home (SSH) located at Chhapra town in Saran district surfaced on Saturday.
The home, run by an NGO named Nari Utthan Kendra is located at Lalkothi near Dharmanath Mandir under Town police station area in the district.
DM Subrat Kumar Sen said that 26 women were living at the home who were immediately transferred to another SSH in Siwan district on Saturday.

"Orders were issued to lodge an FIR with the Town police station area in connection with the sexual assault of residents and three office bearers of the NGO were detained,” he said.
He said that a complaint was received by Women Development Corporation MD-cum-chairman N Vijaya Laxmi after which she had formed a team which reached the district to inspect the SSH on July 10.
“The information about the sexual assault with one of the occupants were found true during the inspection of the team whose report was received on Saturday after which actions were taken,” he said.
He said that further action against the culprits would be taken by police.

At the time of filing the news, process to lodge an FIR in connection with the sexual assault was going on.
Town police station SHO Rajeev Nayan said FIR was in the process of getting lodged after which arresting of accused NGO office bearers would be made too.
In June first week, a social audit report of Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS, Mumbai) had indicated sexual exploitation of minor girls at Muzaffarpur following which Brajesh Thakur, the owner of NGO named Seva Sankalp ewan Vikas Samiti, which was running the home, was arrested. Nine more persons were arrested too. All forty-four vicitms from the home were shifted to other districts.
