Dengue cases on the rise in Cuttack

With unclean and unhygienic prevailing in the district in rainy season, dengue cases are on the rise. So far, 45 persons have been affected by the mosquito-borne disease.

CUTTACK: With unclean and unhygienic prevailing in the district in rainy season, dengue cases are on the rise. So far, 45 persons have been affected by the mosquito-borne disease.

While highest 21 dengue cases were reported from areas under Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), the rest were detected from rural pockets of the district. Dengue cases have been reported from Jagatpur, Bidanasi, Tulasipur, Haripur, Mangalabag, Mahanadi Vihar, Rajendra Nagar and Bidyadharpur in the city. Out of 14 blocks, the disease has already spread its tentacles to six blocks.

Tangi block is the worst-hit with 16 persons affected by the disease. While two cases were detected in Choudwar Municipality area, six were reported from Salepur and one each from Mahanga, Nischintakoili, Niali and Banki blocks.

Though there is no report of the dengue patients undergoing treatment in private hospitals, 24 persons from Cuttack have been admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital. Similarly, 64 patients including 24 from Cuttack, eight from Jajpur, six each from Balasore and Jagatsinghpur, five from Nayagarh, four from Khurda, three each from Kendrapara and Bhadrak, two from Puri and one each from Angul, Keonjhar and Sundargarh districts have been admitted to SCBMCH so far. Out of them, two have died and 42 patients have been discharged.
