AN elderly patient who was in the ambulance that rolled after colliding with a car on Thursday morning has died in hospital today.

Police said the 87-year-old woman died this morning.

A 30-year-old Beechboro woman has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and driving without a licence.

Police allege the woman was behind the wheel of the car that ran a red light before slamming into an ambulance in Dianella in the early hours of July 12.

Six people were taken to hospital after the crash at the intersection of corner of Alexander Drive and Woodrow Avenue.

Police will allege a white Hyundai Getz was travelling on the wrong side of the road and went through a red light before crashing into the St John ambulance about 2.30am.

A 24-year-old woman in the car is in intensive care while her 30-year-old driver is in a stable condition. Both were taken to Royal Perth Hospital.

A nine-year-old child who was also in the car was taken to Perth Children’s Hospital with minor injuries.

Two paramedics in the ambulance were able to give first aid to others before they were taken to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. They were discharged a short time later.

She is due to appear in the Perth Magistrate’s Court on July 18.
