Road accidents kill 7, injure 46
Seven people were killed and 46 others injured in road accidents in five districts on Saturday and yesterday, according to reports from our correspondents.
In Sylhet, a bus and truck collided head-on on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Lalabazar area of Dakshin Surma upazila yesterday.
Soon after, another bus, a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and a motorbike crashed into each other from behind.
As a result, three people were killed and 45 others injured in the pileup, said police.
The deceased -- Mahbubul Alam, 35, from Lalabazar; and Kajal Patro from Mati village in Jaintiapur upazila -- were passengers of the bus that collided with the truck.

The injured were travelling in all the vehicles. They were admitted to the hospital.
Of the injured, several were in critical conditions, said police.
In Mymensingh, a man died as a bus ran him over while he was crossing Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Mollikbari area of Bhaluka upazila yesterday, said police.
Sunil Chandra, 40, from Madan upazila in Netrakona, was a sweeper at a poultry feed firm in Bhaluka.
Soon after the incident, locals blocked the highway and torched a bus, disrupting traffic for half an hour.
In Madaripur, a man was killed after a bus ran him over in Kathalbari Ghat area of Shibchar upazila yesterday.
Ripon Fakir, 30, son of Morshad Fakir from Rajbari, died on the spot, said police.
In Dinajpur, a motorcyclist was killed and his co-rider injured as a truck hit his vehicle in Durgapur village of Birampur upazila on Saturday night.
Kamruzzaman, 45, from Dangapara village under Hakimpur upazila, died instantly.
The injured was admitted to Birampur Upazila Health Complex.
In Jhenidah, a man died on the spot as a truck ran him over while he was crossing Jhenidah-Magura road in Aruakandi village of Sadar upazila yesterday.
The deceased -- Sirazul Islam, 30, son of late Kawsar Ali from the village -- was a farmer. He was going to a field.
