At least 22 people were injured when a part of the pandal collapsed during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally at Midnapore town in Paschim Medinipur district on Monday

The incident took place during the Prime Minister’s nearly hour-long speech. Local party workers said that some people, who climbed atop the steel frame of the pandal, were injured as it collapsed.

Heavy rain had apparently weakened the structure. There are no reports of any casualties as yet.

Later, Mr. Modi visited the injured in the Midnapore Medical College and Hospital.
