Uttam Kumar Reddy has demanded that the TRS government take measures to check the issue of rumours being spread on social media.
Uttam along with AICC secretary V Hanumanth Rao also spoke to Congress leaders in
Karnataka and demanded that the mob lynching case suspects be tried in a fast track court to render speedy justice to family members of Mohd Azam who was recently lynched by a mob in Bidar, a town in Karnataka.
The leaders were visiting the residence of Azam near Barkas here. Accompanied by the leader of opposition in the Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir, former minister Sabitha Indira Reddy, former MP Balram Naik, Uttam met Azam's father Mohammed Osman and conveyed his deep condolences on behalf of the Congress.
He also handed over a cheque for 2.5 lakh to the family and said the Bidar Congress leaders too have assured 2.5 lakh financial assistance to the family members of Azam.
Uttam said Congress president
Rahul Gandhi had written a letter to him condemning the incident.
He assured all support to the family from the Congress including the education of Azam's 18-month-old child.
