Patna, Gopalganj cryptic crossword round on July 26
PATNA: DPS Patna and Acharya Sudarshan Central School at Gopalganj will host the preliminary round of the national interschool CCCC Cryptic Crossword Contest 2018 on July 26, while the Bhagalpur round will be held at Zila School in the town on July 23 and the Deoghar city round at Takshila Vidyapeeth on July 24, a press release issued by the organizers said.

These four cities are out of the 10 in the Bihar-Jharkhand region and out of the 41 across the country in which the preliminary round of the contest will take place. The winning schools from the 41 city rounds will compete for the National Crossword Champion trophy in Delhi by the year-end.
In the Bihar-Jharkhand region, the city rounds have already been held in Bokaro, Jamshedpur, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur and Gaya. The Ranchi round has been rescheduled to September and the date will be announced shortly.
A remarkable feature of this edition of the contest is that small towns in the region have seen increased participation from school teams. It has been a constant endeavour of the organizers since 2013, when the inaugural edition was held to take crossword as a learning tool to the vast hinterland of the country.
The sixth edition was launched on July 10 in Delhi by Bihar governor Satya Pal Malik. Beyond the Bihar-Jharkhand region, city rounds have been held for Delhi, Gurgaon, Ghaziabad, Noida and Jaipur. A total of 41 city rounds will be completed by the first week of September, the release said.
