NEW DELHI: Rains continue to lash Delhi-NCR on Thursday night after heavy downpour in the morning.
It was a heavily cloudy morning. The rain started around 7am, bringing relief from the humidity.
"The sky will remain mostly cloudy throughout the day. There is possibility of scattered showers in most parts of the National Capital Territory," an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said.

Updates: Traffic jams across Delhi-NCR after heavy rains

Weather officials predicted more spells of rain throughout the day.

"The minimum temperature recorded at 8.30 am was 26 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the year. The humidity level was 93 per cent," a MeT official said.

The Safdarjung observatory recorded 4.6 mm rainfall till 8.30 AM, while the rainfall recorded by Palam observatory was 9.3 mm.
The Lodhi Road observatory received 5.3 mm rainfall and the ridge area recorded 8.8 mm rainfall.
Waterlogging was reported from most of the areas, including Loni Gole Chakar and Khajuri Chowk at Wazirabad Road, under the Modi Mill flyover, Ghazipur Murga Mandi and Mayur Vihar on NH 09, Minto Bridge underpass, Mayapuri Chowk, Dwarka Link Road and Mayur Vihar Phase-3.
North Delhi mayor Adesh Gupta while passing by Patel Nagar invaded into waterlogged areas and took charge of the situation.


According to traffic police officials, vehicular movement was affected at the Vivek Vihar underpass, Seema Puri underpass and under the Ghazipur flyover.
Traffic was reported to be affected from Apsara border to Shahdara, Seema Puri to Apsara border and Khaira Mor to Bahardurgarh bus stand in Najafgarh.
There was obstruction in traffic from Lal Kuan in south Delhi to Badarpur due to water logging.
The traffic police also issued advisories with alternate routes on its Twitter handle for motorists.


The maximum temperature settled at 32.2 degrees Celsius, two notches below the season's average on Wednesday, while the minimum was recorded at 28 degrees Celsius, a notch above the normal, said a Meteorological (MeT) department official.
