HYDERABAD: Finance and civil supplies minister Eatala Rajender along with TRS MPs
met Union minister for civil supplies Ram Vilas Paswan and transport minister
Nitin Gadkari in Delhi on Wednesday with a plea to the Centre to clear various proposals for Telangana.
Speaking to reporters in Delhi, Rajender said the Hyderabad-Mancherial Road should be developed into a national highway.
He said the four-lane road from Mancherial to
Chandrapur should also be developed as a national highway at a cost of Rs 1,860 crore as the funds had already been sanctioned. He urged Gadkari to ensure that the works are taken up immediately. He pointed out that several accidents were taking place on this road and therefore, expansion works should be taken up without any delay. Rajender said Gadkari had favourably responded to the pleas.
The state team, which met Paswan, said the rice mill levy percentage had been reduced from 75 per cent to 25 per cent by the Centre after 2014. Rajender said this was done against the wishes of Telangana. The minister also urged that the funds from the Centre for subsidy rice should be immediately released to the state.
Paswan told the team that if necessary, a meeting would be convened on August 2 to resolve the issues. MPs - AP Jitender Reddy, B Vinod Kumar, Kalvakuntla Kavitha, Ajmeera Sitaram Naik, Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, Ch Malla Reddy, BB Patil, Balka Suman and G Nagesh - Rajya Sabha members - J Santosh Kumar, Banda Prakash and Badugu Lingaiah - were present.
