22-year-old jumps into Golf Greens pond, drowns
GURUGRAM: A 22-year-old man from UP drowned in a pond on a golf course behind Ambience Mall on Thursday morning after he and his friend jumped into it to take a bath.
They did not know swimming, said police, adding that the body of the man was sent for autopsy and the family has been informed about the accident.
Abhinav, who is from Budaun, and his friend were allegedly drunk when they entered Golf Greens, a private golf course for Ambience Island reside-nts, despite rules against trespassing.

According to police, Abhinav reached his friend Rohan’s rented accomodation in DLF 3, Gurugram, 20 days ago, searching for a job. Rohan is working with a local BPO.
Police said that the duo visited Golf Greens around 4:30am on Thursday after drinking at Rohan’s house.
Rohan said Abhinav insisted on a bath after seeing the pond. However, Rohan soon realised that Abhinav was drowning but he could not save him as he also did not know swimming. Instead, he ran towards the gate to inform the security guards but Abhinav drowned before getting any help.
The guards informed their supervisor and he, in turn, called police. After a police team reached the spot, divers were asked to fish out the body from the pond. “We have lodged a report and are waiting for his family. The autopsy will be conducted on Friday. We are investigating how the boys entered the pond depite the restriction,” said ASI Jitender Kumar, who is probing the case.
When contacted, the security supervisor of Golf Greens ,who had called police, said when he reached the spot, he only found some clothes and a liquor bottle by the pond.
The chief security officer of Golf Greens told TOI, “The men were drunk and jumped into the pond even as our guards tried to stop them. The guards tried to save the boy but he had already drowned.”
