AGRA: Heavy overnight
rain in
Agra caused damage to the city wall of the historic monument
Fatehpur Sikri on Thursday.
Confirming the damage to the wall near Lal Darwaja, superintending archaeologist Vasant Swarnkar said that a portion of the wall - around 20 feet - has been damaged due to heavy rainfall. However, no one was injured.
He added that though no tourist movement is there, but people reside near the wall.
For their safety, a warning note has been put there asking them to maintain distance from the wall, said Swarankar.
He told TOI that the area has been cleaned after removing the debris. The estimate to repair the wall is being prepared and work will start soon after the monsoons come to an end.
