Indian Railways' goods wagon reaches UP's Basti from Visakhapatnam in 3.5 years
The invoice of the consignment issued by the railway
Under heavy criticism for frequent train delays, Indian Railways have set another bad example after a goods wagon booked from Visakhapatnam to Basti in Uttar Pradesh reached its destination after 3.5 years. That too, without any explanation as to why the wagon carrying sacks of fertilizer took more than three years to cover the distance of 1,400km.
According to a report published in Navbharat Times, a Basti-based trader had booked the wagon to bring fertilizers worth Rs 10 lakh from Visakhapatnam.

When the consignment did not reach its destination, the trader enquired about it but didn't get any appropriate reply from the railway officials.

The trader had to run from pillar to post to know the whereabouts of the missing consignment. He also sent several letters to the railway officials in Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh but in vein.
Finally, the wagon reached Basti railway station on Thursday.
The report says that the fertilizers that were kept inside the wagon are of no use and no trader is ready the consignment.
