Aishwarya, Vidisha win creative writing contest

PATNA: Aishwarya Giri of St Francis School-Deoghar (senior) and Vidisha Yashaswini of Loyola School-Jamshedpur (junior) emerged as winners of the Association of Schools for The Indian School Certificate (ASISC) Regional Creative Writing Contest in English hosted by Don Bosco Academy in Patna on Saturday.
The runner-up trophies were bagged by Mihir Amit (junior) of St Francis School-Deoghar and Elisha Chatterjee (senior) of De Nobili School-Dhanbad.

The topic given to the junior (Classes IX and X) students was ‘A Moment in Your Life You Wish You Could Freeze and Preserve’ and the senior students (Classes XI and XII) wrote on the topic ‘A Time When You Had to Make a Difficult Choice’. Students from six zones — Bhagalpur, Dhanbad, Ranchi, Deoghar, Jamshedpur and Patna — took part in the contest.
Host school principal Mary Alphonsa handed over trophies to the winners and asked them to perform well at the national level.
Bishop Scott Senior Secondary Girls’ School: Vaishali Thakur took oath as the head girl of Bishop Scott Senior Secondary Girls’ School at an investiture ceremony conducted on the school campus on Saturday. Sweeny Pal was declared the deputy head girl.
School topper Rashmi Ranjan of Class VIII, who scored 98.7% during the 2017-18 academic session, was also felicitated on the occasion. At least 63 meritorious students of all the sections in every class were also honoured.

Chairman Shailesh Prasad Singh gave away sashes and badges to the elected members who marched past with the school flag. Addressing the event, he said, “That’s how we prepare our future nation leaders.”
Principal Jyotsna Ranjan asked the girls to maintain dignity.
The vote of thanks was proposed by vice-principal Anita Singh.
Gyan Niketan Girls School: Tiny tots of Gyan Niketan Girls School celebrated Friendship Day by tying colourful bands on each others’ wrists at a cultural programme organized on Saturday.
Students performed a song, dance and skit to spread the message of friendship. Their parents also attended the event.
School principal Prabha Sinha highlighted the importance of friendship.

The programme began with a prayer song and was followed by a dance performance on ‘Ghode Jaisi Chaal’ by Sarthak, Krishna and Srijan.
UKG students staged a play on ‘Lord Rama and Sugriv’ to spread the message of true friendship.
A fashion show for Montessori kids was also organized on the occasion.
Principal J K Mukherjee and vice-principal S M Jha appreciated the hard work of the students.
