Patient dies in Malda, kin thrash doc

Malda: Bipul Ghosh, a doctor from Hemtabad block hospital, has been admitted to Raiganj Super Speciality Hospital in a serious condition after he was thrashed by relatives of a patient who died at the block hospital.
Sabeda Khatun (55) of Malda’s Chhotokandor village was taken to the Hemtabad hospital on Sunday after complaining of chest pain. Doctors there suspected a serious heart condition.Ghosh, who was on duty, referred her to the Raiganj hospital though her husband Asal Muhammad insisted on treating her at the Hemtabad hospital.
After a health worker informed that Sabeda had died, her family members ra-nsacked the hospital and thrashed the doctor. A team from Hemtabad PS rescued Ghosh. A police complaint was filed by chief medical officer Prakash Mridha, who met Ghosh in hospital on Monday morning.
