NAWADA: An RJD leader brutally tortured two minor boys on the suspicion of stealing his Bolero jeep despite the police giving them a clean cheat after initial interrogation.
One of the victims, Jigar Kumar, lodged an FIR with the Hisua Police station on August 5 against Hisua block RJD president Umesh Yadav, Mithilesh Yadav, Pappu Yadav, Pankaj Yadav and a dozen others. Umesh’s wife Indu Devi is a Hisua ward member.

Police sources said Umesh, along with his associates, detained the boys at his residence in Tilaiya village under the Hisua PS on August 4 and asked them to pay Rs5 lakh as the vehicle’s cost. When the boys expressed their innocence, Umesh and his men thrashed them with belts and singed their skin with cigarette butts.
“None of the accused has been arrested,” Hisua SHO Rajan Sao said. According to sources, the Bolero was stolen on July 26 night from the Guruchak fuel station located on the state highway 82. Umesh had lodged an FIR with Narhat police station the next day and suspected 14-year-old Jigar alias Ranjan Kumar of Kaharia and Sachin Kumar of Barhi Bigha of stealing the vehicle.
On July 29, the police let them off after interrogation. However, police sources said Umesh and his supporters caught hold of the boys on August 4 evening and brutally assaulted them. The sources said when the boys said they were innocent, Umesh and his men subjected them to third degree torture throughout the night. The boys were let off after 16 hours.
