These were the wild celebrations outside a popular Indian restaurant in Levenshulme.

The Royal Nawaab is renowned as a venue for celebrations including weddings and proms, and the festivities often spill out onto Stockport Road.

And as this footage shared with the M.E.N shows, Tuesday night was a particularly ‘lively’ event.

A convoy of dozens of cars, many of them luxury models such as Lamborghinis, Porsches and Mercedes brought the A6 to a virtual standstill.

Some of the passengers even set off orange, pink and green flares while music blared and engines were revved loudly.

Lee Panther shared a clip of the party on Facebook with the caption ‘Bit lively outside Nawaab’ and sparked a fierce debate.

Some complained that the cars were holding up traffic and that smoke from the flares posed a danger.

One wrote: “That’s not acceptable.

“I love watching the weddings there, the wonderful colours, the drums etc but this is just pure selfishness, disrupting everyone’s journey.”

Flares sent smoke streaming down the A6

Another added: “I utterly disagree with this - It is a main road into the city - the road should not be blocked - flares should not be used.”

However others disagreed saying the celebrations hadn’t caused any harm or serious disruption.

One person wrote: 'Nice to see people enjoying themselves'

“Nice to see people enjoying themselves, it’s not hurting anybody,” said one.

Others compared the situation to England football fans celebrating their recent wins in the World Cup.

“Looks jokes, wish I’d been invited,” added another.
