1,200 HP Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Starts Upgrade with a Monster Dyno Run

We've already seen the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 doing its drag racing thing, both at the drag strip and on the street. Given these adventures, one might wonder why we've brought along a dyno run of the Chevy halo car - how can this still be interesting?

Well, you should know that this isn't a random dyno run coming from an owner who wanted to find out how the new LT5 motor behaves in the real world.

Instead, the adventure we have here comes from Hennessey Performance, with the developer having started working on the C7 Corvette ZR1. And, as always, the process kicked off with a baseline dyno run, hence the piece of footage at the bottom of the page.

The Texan developer has already announced its program for the GM supercar, with the company set to offer three packages. These will see the output of the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 jumping from the factory output of 755 hp to 850, 1,000 or 1,200 hp.

That's right, the Lone Star State company aims to take the uber-Corvette deep into four-figure territory. And you might want to know more about the bits and pieces that will help the 'Vette get there, which is why we'll focus on the 1,200 hp update, whose maximum torque will sit at an overly meaty 1,066 lb-ft.

It all starts with a displacement boost, as the V8 is set to jump to 7 liters. This will be joined by a larger blower, with the list of supporting mods being just as impressive. We're referring to aluminum pistons, forged steel connecting rods, a stroker crankshaft, ported cylinder heads, updated vales, springs, retainers, lifters and pushrods, along with a high floor air to air intercooler and a custom exhaust system. The latter involves long-tube headers, midpipes and high-flow catalytic converters.

We'll keep an eye for these updates and returns as soon as we get our keyboards on fresh materials.
