Magadh University VC welcomes probe into charges against him
GAYA: MU vice-chancellor Prof Qamar Ahsan has welcomed the probe ordered by governor- cum-chancellor Satya Pal Malik into the allegations levelled by Aurangabad MP Sushil Singh against him.
“It is good that the functioning of the university during the last one-and-half years will come under scrutiny. I would also like to know the names of my kin who have either been appointed by him or got contracts from the university,” said the VC.
Refusing to share details, the VC said he will place all the facts before the inquiry committee.
“I will not allow awarding of fake degrees. The university has already earned a bad name internationally due to the presence of degree mafia. I have already written to the government to expedite the ongoing vigilance inquiry into the degree scam,” Ahsan said.
The vigilance investigation bureau is conducting an inquiry into the award of PhD degrees to nearly 300 foreigners in an allegedly fraudulent manner. The ambit of vigilance probe includes verification of travel documents of the degree recipients as several degree awardees are alleged to have got it without even visiting India.
