Three injured as part of under-construction flyover collapses in UP’s Basti

Three persons were injured after a portion of an under-construction flyover collapsed in Basti district of eastern Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. The flyover is located on National Nighway 28 near Phutaiyya crossing.

As per the district administration, a slab of the flyover collapsed between 7 am and 7:30 am.

Police identified the injured as Dharmendra, Suresh Rai and Pradeep. They were said to be construction labourers.

District magistrate Raj Shekhar said the administration spoke to the contractor, local workers and residents who all confirmed that no other person was injured or missing.

The injured are bring treated in the district hospital. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of the incident and ordered swift action and ensure proper treatment of the injured.

“District Administration has informed PD NHAI (MoRTH) and has asked them to look into the issue immediately and to take appropriate measures on priority,” said Mr. Shekhar.
