SIT begins probe into Deoria case

DEORIA: Even though the UP government has recommended a CBI probe into the alleged scandal at an illegally run shelter home in Deoria, a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) reached Deoria on Friday to begin investigation.
The SIT has been constituted by chief minister Yogi Adityanath and is led by additional director general (ADG) Crime.
ADG (Crime) Sanjay Singhal and a woman officer of SIT has camped at the PWD guest house, where media entry has been banned.
Sources said Singhal summoned the investigating officer (IO) of this case and also other officials with documents. Deoria SP Rohan P Kanay said the SIT team has arrived to conduct the probe.
Before the arrival of SIT, the district probation office shifted the 24 women, girls and children rescued from Girija Tripathi's blacklisted Ma Vindhyavasini shelter home to shelter homes in Varanasi, Ballia and Lucknow.
District probation officer Prabhat Kumar said, "The process of shifting the rescued inmates began in the morning.
