Hellcat-Engined Toyota Prius Drag Races Dodge Demon, Humiliation Occurs

It's no secret that the most frequent use of the Dodge Demon involves the Mopar halo car lining up against tuned machines at the drag strip. And while we're here to bring you another battle of the kind, this fight has something that allows it to stand out, namely a Toyota PriuSRT8.

There's no typo here. Instead, we're dealing with the Prius we discussed back in May, when the car had its drag strip shakedown. This is a Toyota that has been gifted with Hellcat power and now that the build has been... broken in, the thing seems to have turned against the SRT kind.

The Demon and the once-a-Prius got together at the recent Roadkill Nights on Woodward Avenue, in Pontiac, Michigan.

A good old standing start drag race is what followed and we don't want to go deeper into the details, as it would ruin the giggles delivered by the video showcasing the race.

Nevertheless, we'll remind you of the details that define the contraption that fought the Demon (the latter came in factory stock form).

First of all, we need to remind you that the Prius body now sits on a double frame-rail chassis, with the factory chassis being long gone.

As for the Hellcat muscle of the machine, the blown 6.2-liter V8 of the thing has received a thorough tech massage. To be more precise, the motor now delivers 800 hp at the rear wheels.

Interestingly, the engine is mated to a six-speed manual, which only ads to the driver's wrestling (check out the footage of the race and you'll understand).

Speaking of the said event, we'll remind you this also Richard Rawlings crashing a Dodge Challenger Hellcat. The car show host (Discovery Network) was attempting a long burnout while drag racing NHRA star Leah Pritchett when he lost control of the muscle car. The vehicle climbed the concrete barrier on the side of the track. Fortunately, nobody was injured in the accident, while the damage sustained by the Hellcat seemed moderate.
