MIRAMAR, FLA. (WSVN) - Three firefighters got trapped inside a Miramar Fire truck after live power lines landed on top of the vehicle.

Miramar Police and Fire Rescue units responded just before 10 p.m. to the scene along the 9000 block of Miramar Parkway, Monday.

According to officials, a vehicle hit a power pole, causing the wires to hang low. Another vehicle then hit the first car, resulting in the wires to hang even lower.

Officials said the firefighters then became trapped after the live power lines landed on top of their fire truck while responding to an unrelated call.

All of the firefighters were safely removed from the fire truck.

One firefighter was transported to the hospital with minor injuries and is expected to be OK.

According to Florida Power and Light, there were more than 2,500 residents in the area without power after it was shut down to safely remove the power lines from the scene.

As of 11 p.m., power has been restored for all residents with the exception of street lights.
