To the editor:
This is in response to the article on Aug. 3 about the Miltona VFW closing. When Vietnam era veterans came home, the policy of VFWs was that Vietnam wasn't a real war and that Vietnam veterans were not eligible to join.
As their ranks of WW II and Korean War vets thinned, they then allowed Vietnam vets to join. Many of us remember the treatment from the public as well as the "snub" from VFW and choose not to join their organization.
