Hollywood Cryptocurrency Thriller In Post-production

A Hollywood cryptocurrency thriller starring Kurt Russell is currently in post-production.

In an interview with Inverse, its producers said the movie doesn't focus on any particular coin.

Although the film focuses on crime, corruption and cryptocurrency, the overall message is positive, according to Yale Productions' Jordan Yale Levine and Jordan Beckerman.

The film, titled Crypto, is based on an original story by Jeffrey Ingber. Crypto is directed by John Stalberg Jr. Carlyle Eubank and David Frigerio are its scriptwriters.

The story centers around a young anti-money laundering agent tasked with investigating a web of corruption and fraud in his remote New York hometown, where his father and brother are struggling to maintain their family farm in a changing economic landscape.

Before he knows, the agent finds himself deep inside a dangerous underworld with a mysterious art dealer, a corrupt accountant doing the bidding of ruthless clients, and a crypto enthusiast.

The star-studded cast includes Beau Knapp as the agent. Alexis Bledel, known for her performance in the hit television show Gilmore Girls, Kurt Russell, Luke Hemsworth, Jeremie Harris and Vincent Kartheiser also have signed on to star in the indie thriller.

The producers say "Crypto" may not be satisfying for die-hard cryptocurrency enthusiasts, as it doesn't focus on any particular crypto coin.

"We hope it [cryptocurrency] lasts for a long time…That's one of the reasons why we wanted to do the film. We're not into fads. We hope it stays around for a long time," Yale Levine says.

He added that 95 percent of the film was shot upstate, and a couple of days in New York City.

Crypto is not the first film that has softcoin as the central subject. The Vietnamese movie Bitcoin Heist, released in 2016, featured a team of elite hackers planning a crypto-heist.
