Reggae artiste Droop Lion believes that music is the balm that can soothe the crime monster that is running loose in Jamaica.

More than 60 persons have been killed in Clarendon this year, with the main crime-producing centres being Farm/Effortville, Bucknor/Bucks Common, Freetown, Sandy Bay, Content/York Town, Rocky Point, and Hayes

Droop Lion performed at the Summer Sizzle Festival at the Jamalco Sports Club over the weekend, and he commended Beenie and the organisers for executing a violence-free event.

"Music is a powerful tool to create harmony in the community. Montego Bay in St James has Sumfest. Clarendon should have an annual show that can help bring communities together. Reggae and dancehall shows can create a leverage to change the minds of people; you see no killing no gwaan ah Clarendon since the show (Summer Sizzle) gwaan weekend," he said.

Droop Lion said the government and corporate Jamaica can do more to create harmony by creating entertainment venues in Clarendon and hosting events in the parish to foster unity.

At Summer Sizzle, Droop Lion immediately set the tone for his set with Peace Perfect Peace then segued into Freeway.

The latter got a positive response and spiked the energy level of the crowd as he worked the stage with high kicks and jumps. He then did a soulful performance of Ghetto Life.

He urged the crowd not be controlled by "no prison don or no foreign don". He also appealed to the youth for peace in Clarendon and encouraged them to stop the crime.

He then did Pray For Them before climaxing his well-received set with Mama Soon Come.

Droop Lion will be heading off to Europe for a media tour beginning on September 3 that will take him to Germany, France, the Netherlands, and the UK as he continues to promote his Idealogies album.

"We will be releasing a music video for Modern Day Slavery, the next track from the album, next month as well," he said.
