Huddersfield boss David Wagner speaking to Sky Sports about City's surprising selection:

"From the tactical side it looks like a different formation. We have to find a solution. We will see how good it goes.

"This is why Pep is one of the best, he always tries new things."

He also suggests that he will adapt his own side's formation from the touchline as soon as he works out what system City are playing.

Still no start for Sane

What has happened to Leroy Sane over the past few months?

He finished last season in stunning form but was left out of Germany's ill-fated World Cup squad and is now the only member of Pep Guardiola's senior attacking unit to have not been handed a start across these first two Premier League games.

Mooy missing for Huddersfield

Australian midfielder Aaron Mooy is absent today as his wife is in labour, so in comes Abdelhamid Sabiri for his first Premier League start in almost a year.

Tommy Smith and Jon Stankovic also come into the side as David Wagner is forced into three changes after Jonathan Hogg and Mathias Zanka picked up injuries.

Sterling dropped, Silva starts

Several changes from the Man City side that won at the Emirates last week.

Raheem Sterling opened the scoring but drops to the bench, as does Riyad Mahrez, meaning that Gabriel Jesus and David Silva come in, the latter for his 250th Premier League appearance.

At the back, Kyle Walker is also left out, with John Stone, Aymeric Laporte and Vincent Kompany all starting.

Will Laporte move out to right back, or might we see a back three with Mendy pushed on? He pretty much played as a centre forward against Arsenal.

Huddersfield's tough start

The Terriers opened with a 3-0 home defeat against Chelsea last week and now face a trip to the champions. Ouch.

That, incidentally, is the same sides faced by Arsenal so far this season, and given that many are happy to excuse Unai Emery's team for their defeats, few at Huddersfield will be hitting the panic button if they're on the end of a spanking today.

Nonetheless, they emerged with a battling point here last season and haven't conceded away from home to City in the league since 1987 - a run of four straight clean sheets.

Who will replace De Bruyne?

Perhaps Manchester City's best player last season, Kevin De Bruyne will miss the next three months of the season, so who will step up?

Bernado Silva was signed with a view to being the long term successor to his name sake, but made most of his appearances from the right flank last season.

With Riyad Mahrez brought in as a genuine wide player though, the Portuguese may be given the chance to flourish in his preferred central role.

Or could it be time for Phil Foden? The young Englishman impressed in midfield against Chelsea in the Charity Shield earlier this month.

We should have the answer in 15 minutes...

Champions homecoming

Last season's runaway Premier League title winners kick off their home campaign this afternoon against a Huddersfield side who were the only team to stop them scoring at the Etihad last season.
